Rotisserie Time
Once the dismantling process is complete and the body panels have been removed, the chassis is mounted on our custom designed solid-beam rotisserie. Each model we work on has a unique fixture that aligns the car to a factory specified datum line down the center of the vehicle, keeping the frame and body parts in proper alignment throughout the restoration process. This allows us to perform panel fabrication and replacement without distortion.

Unibody cars like the 190 and 280 SL’s have the suspension removed, the suspension mounts are then fixtured to the rotisserie. This method holds the car parallel to the datum line simulating the car on its wheels, allowing for minimal distortion and perfect panel alignment during reassembly.

Pictured here are two 300 SCs One undergoing a total restoration, the other in for routine service here in our Harvard, Massachusetts shop.
